I couldn't resist...

Post by GrapeApe »

Another new mold is on it's way from Slovenia.

This one, for my 357s, is a MP C 358-165 GC with the same 3 types of pins, FN, HP and PentaPoint Again, the FN pins, PROBABLY, won't see much use

I only ordered a 2 cavity this time, because my goal is an expanding version of my LBT mould. If it works as I hope, the 2 will shoot to a similar POI with the same load. IIRC, I specified .300" in front of the crimp groove back when I ordered the LBT. This mould has the same, so hopefully I won't even have to change the seating stem.

At last report, It's at London-Heathrow and is due in my hot little hands Wed.

The speed their molds get here, from literally halfway around the world, amazes me. I ordered another box of gaschecks from Midsouth Shooters the same day, they haven't even shipped yet. The mould has already travelled further than the distance between me and Midsouth

Looks like a great bullet looking forward to the report. Shipping is really odd here. I’ve ordered things from Norway that got here faster than from anything here in the states!

Not sure the 20:1 will handle carbine speeds, but once I get it and get some cast up and "dressed", we need to talk ;)

BONUS!!!
Description when I ordered it, I was expecting pins for a large HP, Penta Point and Flat point, All of which I got. What I wasn't expecting was the small HP and the cup point pins.

Basically, I got moulds for 5 different bullets in one

Yep, The only one of them that I'm fairly certain won't see much use is the FP pin. My 4 cav LBT mould has that covered, at twice the production speed

I have a small HP and a PentaPoint pin in it to start with.

They're predicting rain and thunderstorms today, and I debating whether or not to risk it getting bad enough to blow rain far enough under my porch roof to invite the "Tensile fairy" into my lap.

Screw it, I've GOT to see what these bullets look like. Wish me luck

ETA:
Pictures of boolits (and HOPEFULLY not tensile) to follow

We shall see soon. Mould's been cleaned with 91% rubbing alcohol, mounted on a set of handles and is drying/warming on an eye on the stove, on low

Have to go renew my CPR this afternoon, so didn't cast a bunch, but got the mould hot and cast a few with each pin, plus cast a couple pours into the LBT, just to compare.

uploading pics now

2 solids and 1 LBT. The LBT "mesplat" is a tiny bit smaller

The large HP will probably be devastating even down to 38 special speeds. The small HP pins will probably get the most use

And me I'd use the small HP for deeper penetration.

Yep, might even see what the cup point does in my gel, but will probably stick with the small pins, pending gel testing

I am intrigued by the cup point. My vote is for you to test those :D
