New .22lr - Bergara BMR-X Competition
New .22lr - Bergara BMR-X Competition
I’ve wanted a nice, threaded bolt action .22lr since I’m getting a Rimfire suppressor. Looked at and considered several and settled on the Bergara. It had the features I liked.
Well, with the help of a couple Jackasses……..she came home last weekend. Trigger came factor set at 1.5lbs which was surprising but very nice. Everything on the firearm is well made. Stock feels like an actual rifle and adjustable length of pull. Bolt handle well designed. Finish on the metal is very nice.
So, last weekend myself and the above mentioned Jackasses set her up and broke her in. Accuracy with all the various ammo we shot was acceptable and a couple loads stayed in the 1/2”-ish category. We didn’t have any match ammo to try. But, that’s fine. I won’t be running match ammo in it anyway. It’ll be a hunting/plinking rifle.
Anyway, I’m very pleased with the Bergara.

The rifle looks GREAT, the male model? Hummmm…. a little scary
The QD sling mounts in the side, factory or did you install those? Is the stock solid? Not that it matters that much on a rimfire, just curious.

The model is what makes the gun look sexy!
Between it and the Sleazy 457, I prefer the Begara. I like the fact the 457 is the 10-22 of the bolt gun world, but I did like the Begara better. The magazines are for sure better. They feel like a mini Magpul magazine, where the CZ seemed kinda like a phoned in afterthought.
Happy to help you jail brake it. Happier that we could do it and you couldn’t stop us.

Yes. Factory QD inserts and the stock is very rigid. Basically like a B&C or HS rifle stock.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 4:40 pm The rifle looks GREAT, the male model? Hummmm…. a little scary

Thanks for the info. I think I really like that gun. Glad you’re finding time to shoot for fun for a change!

Helpful jackasses? Are they in any way related to Lenin's "useful idiots"?
I'm glad to see we can still buy good .22's. Was at a shop yesterday and fell into a chat with a guy picking up a heavy-barrel CZ. It's not ALL plastic and roll pins out there, thankfully.

Nice looking rifle. I've been nothing but pleased with the Bergara stuff I've bought and/or handled.
Re: New .22lr - Bergara BMR-X Competition
Well, it ain’t a classic wood stock or gloss blue. I wanted accurate and functional. This has the accuracy, design, and features I needed.Bigslug wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 6:14 pm Helpful jackasses? Are they in any way related to Lenin's "useful idiots"?![]()

This is my second Bergara. The other is a .308 Win. They are everything Remington SHOULD have been.

Re: New .22lr - Bergara BMR-X Competition
Just to clarify, the 1/2” groups were at 50 yrds, not 25. In case some were concerned. And some groups were sub 1/2”. But, I’d feel safe saying it’s a 1/2” gun with bulk ammo.
