Won a muzzleloader in a raffle and did not want it so I took the instore credit and got the Rossi/Heritage in .357/.38 today. Finish and wood look good and there are tapped threads below the rear sight for a rail, might go with that and a dot optic, checking on prices and availability.

Got some ammo to try, need to dig out some .38 and .357 lead handloads to try too. Friend is going to loan me his chronograph if it is still working and it will be interesting to check velocities in an 18” barrel

Nice!!! Interesting to see one with the barrel longer than the tube.
What barrel length?

NICE!!! I’ve never had anything but great experiences with Rossi lever action guns. My current .44 mag is a hell if a shooter!

They seem imprecise to my astigmatism and nearsightedness, but I have not shot it yet. I am looking at a rail for a dot. Did yours like any particular ammo? Mine was $602 plus MN sales tax, what did you get dinged for yours? Did you upgrade your sights or is that from the factory?

Full power commercial 240gt JSPs and a few hot plated 210gr SWC which the rifle LOVES. Steel plates at over 100 yards are just an offhand proposition and almost boring 😎

The current sights need more contrast for my eyes, I want to try a dot on it, I have other stuff to put it on if it does not work out.

I was trying to justify a Marlin, the Rossi was 1/2 the price, and I had it covered except for the tax with the trade in I won, Rossi won.

A nice carbine. If it were mine I would never put a rail or an optic on it, but that's personal choice. Because it would take away from the handling of the piece and gain nothing.

I can always take it off, I would like to see how it handles with one.
