So looking more into this, and I have aid ZERO attention to it until yesterday, SBRs still require a Form approval from the ATF. Oh, well, one step at a time.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2026 3:18 am Cool with the cans, but I’m more excited that I’m throwing out the damn “brace” on my 9mm AR pistol and putting in a proper stock on the folder adapter!!
Is it actually going to happen? Suppressors SBR/SBS?

Everything is still up in the air at this time. There’s been no atf guidance as of 10:28 central

The few sources I can find, mostly Suppressor Central and PSA on their websites say SBRs are an separate issue.
And for what it's worth I'm now a paying member of GOA, might just spring for the lifetime membership. I like what they are doing.

Then the next sentence says…”buuutttt”
So till stuff is settled, ain’t nothing settled.
My prediction is that the DOJ will appeal. Then all the cans that have been sold between then and the time the floodgates opened will need to be registered.
And yes GOA and FPC are great groups to join. I’ll hand it to the NRA, they finally got their head in the game after getting rid of leisure Suit La Pierre. Still won’t send them a dime however.

Thanks, I'll watch that today

The HMFIC of GOA goes over the process to get where they got. Pretty interesting.
Still doesn’t give any clarification, but that’s gonna have to come from the EIEIO.

Re: Is it actually going to happen? Suppressors SBR/SBS?
ALL of the regular 2A lawyers on youtube that I watch are saying the SBR/SBS currently still require a form 1 or 4.
Palmetto State Armory, Who is doing 4473 silencers in SC, but only in SC and only for SC residents, says this about the SBR/SBS
Palmetto State Armory, Who is doing 4473 silencers in SC, but only in SC and only for SC residents, says this about the SBR/SBS
https://palmettostatearmory.com/blog/nf ... uling.htmlThis does not currently apply to purchases of short-barreled rifles or short-barreled shotguns. Although the Court's ruling reached SBRs and SBSs along with suppressors, PSA cannot sell you one without ATF authorization, and that has nothing to do with the NFA provisions the Court enjoined.
The barrier is in the Gun Control Act, not the National Firearms Act. Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(4), a federal licensee may not sell or deliver a short-barreled rifle or short-barreled shotgun (or a machine gun or destructive device) to any person "except as specifically authorized by the Attorney General consistent with public safety and necessity" That provision was not challenged in this case and was not enjoined. In practice, the required authorization is the approved NFA transfer — which means an SBR or SBS purchase from us still requires the full Form 4 process.
So: SBR and SBS purchases at PSA are unchanged, at every location, online and in store.

All of this would be moot, and the organizations would still have the money they spent on lawyers, if the Legislature and POTUS would do one of the jobs they're paid for and sent to Washington to do and passed the Hearing Protection Act.

Actually it’s better this way. Laws can be easily changed. Constitutionality rulings are really sticky.breamfisher wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 9:51 am All of this would be moot, and the organizations would still have the money they spent on lawyers, if the Legislature and POTUS would do one of the jobs they're paid for and sent to Washington to do and passed the Hearing Protection Act.

Yes, you’re correct. Laws can be changed. However this isn’t a be all end all, even if taken to scotus. This was solely decided on as a taxing authority issue. Had zero to do with a 2A issue.
So *when* a new budget gets passed and takes the zero dollar tax on NFA items back to $200 or $2000, then the law is satisfied that congress has the power to create the unlawful gun registry, I mean… “give us a tax receipt”.
Even when settled, this is and will never be “over”.
The goal here is to acquire everything possible as quickly as possible.

Agreed on both counts. This fight will go on long after we are all worm poop, and go back and forth like a tide. But for now we seem to be on a decent run even if it's just one step at a time.CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 12:31 pmWambli Ska wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 11:15 amActually it’s better this way. Re: Is it actually going to happen? Suppressors SBR/SBS?
One thing to consider is that how long it takes (if it happens at all) to address even simple items like reciprocal CCWs or voter ID in the House/Senate. These are issues that should be an easy ask and they just make sense. But are potentially politically devastating for the Elite Ruling class (Elected Politicians) that taking a solid stance can be political suicide.
Having them take on Suppressors and SBRs in Congress is next to impossible. But, when you have court cases, the process is slow but targeted, ahem you need to do is take small bites of the sandwich and establish precedence leading to your desired outcome. I believe that this is all part of a structured crawling approach to get to an ultimate meaningful case about what is truly the second amendment and what it guarantees citizens of the USA, which BTW is something BOTH sides are terrified of because the ruling on this one has a chance that it could be terminal for either side.

This is what happens when you allow lawyers to run the country.

It's worse than lawyers. Far worse. It's politicians running the country.
