... doesn't quite work. If I use this command, it says its done - BUT - a subsequent "show new posts" shows all the same ones as before. THEN - if I log out, and log back in, the posts now don't show up as new - in other words, it has worked correctly but takes a logout and login to get it to work.
Anyone else having this problem? It may be my browser settings, I run a very locked down browser...

It's probably your cookie settings. My guess is you have them blocked for this site and every other site so any changes occur after you logout then log back in. Now only the server remembers your settings and changes on screen aren't happening dynamically.
Anyway, that's my guess. Check your settings, you might just need to allow greater permissions for this website. The Firefox browser makes this easy enough.

Its not the cookie settings *directly* as they're the same for this site as every other. BUT - with that said, I can selectively turn off my various lockdowns. I take it you don't have this problem.

Nope. Everything works on this end. At least, I haven't found anything weird yet
