Happy Early Birthday to me…
Wife went into my shopping cart on my account at BPS and cleared it out for me for my birthday. Just came back from picking two toys.
The first is a Glock 43X COA. Been wanting one for a long time, they are FINALLY showing up around here so now I got one. This will replace my 48 MOS with the Holosun as my EDC.
I Forgot how poop the factory triggers are. Ghost connector ordered and polish job scheduled for tomorrow before I hit the range.
Hey Zee are those 148 gr HPs made for shoe salesmen a good load for this gun?!?!?
The second one is a gun I’d never heard off a CZ 99 but it’s not a CZ, apparently they were made by Zastava (thanks Elk Creek for the info). They are really good shooters according to everything I’ve read and this one has great metal, nice wood and it’s threaded!!! Score.

Ftw arms has a lightweight $100 composite 22lr suppressor
Lifetime warranty. Havent seen one though the local range folks were discussing so it may appear soon?
Might add to the fun. Pick up some CCI standard 22lr and go click click click
Wambli, when was it you were “thinning the herd”? that must mean moving away from double stacks? Or that only applies until birthdays, Christmas, Presidents’ Day, or some other something written on the calendar

And I have to find out if the threaded barrel is 1/2x28 or some weird Euro thread. But can is absolutely happening. BTW in Nevada Federal form is required by state law (imbeciles) so no over the counter sales, yet, but in AZ next door all you can eat. Asked local dealer how long to get forms back and he said 1-2 days.

That's quite the haul, Happy Birthday hey.

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
Nice workaround.
FYI, “Glock” now makes factory 15 round 43x mags. Made by Mecgar.
No need to swap mag release like the shield. And half the price.

Nice pre birthday haul!!!
Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
And of course happy birthday!
Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
Cool!
I like what little I've seen of the COA so far. My bitch with the entire red dot industry thus far is that we are still in the early pissing contest stage of multiple footprints and platforms and the COA system pretty much freezes you onto that optic unless somebody makes you a filler plate with bolt holes for whatever. That said, it's probably a really durable mounting system not unlike a lot of old claw-lock rifle scope mounts. I'd rather see the world standardize on milling their slides with something Picatinny-ish, but anything's an improvement of the more common collection of 2-4 dweeby little screws holding it all together.
But FAR more interested on the range report of the .22...

Thanks all for the great B-Day wishes. I'm still a few weeks out but my wife is that way. Actually she's getting better, she used to start giving me stuff in August. Now at least she's in September!

Looking at the system closely I could probably use the whole thing as a hammer and be Ok. On the other side, it's meant for shoe sales people like Zee that can break hammers so there is a certain level of "comfy" that goes with that. My EPS has never failed but I can't help but think, "Chinese Made" every time I look through it.Bigslug wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 5:23 am Cool!

Now for a civilian looking to vigorously exercise a gun for PD or HD purposes those other sight with the bitty screws will probably work forever without issues. My 48 with the Holosun Closed Emitter EPS is still going strong after a few years now with zero signs of potential failure or loosening so I don't lose much sleep over it. I clean the lint with q-tips I keep on my night stand and change the battery every Christmas. The move to a COA was prompted mostly by my enablers and the desire for a slightly larger window which so far based on one evening of drawing practice, seems to be a smidgen faster to acquire the dot.

I shoot the 147gr GD G2 out of my G43X and they shoot fine. Don’t know the velocity as, I don’t really have a choice anyway. So, more requirement than choice.

Ok, thanks! I think I’ll just run some over a Chronograph and see what happens. They shoot great out of every gun I run them through so if I don’t need to buy other stuff I’ll just stuff the mags for this gun with the same. Keep logistics simple.
Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
They shoot fine out of my P365 and SW Shield also.

No Glock 43X 15 rounders to be had, can't even backorder... I'll work with what I have for now and get a stack of Glock mags when the new product fever subsides. I'll just swap the metal release I have on my 48MOS to the 43X and use the Shield Arms mags I have been using for years. They have been flawless for me and I think I have like a dozen of them.

Sweet! Happy Birthday!
My ‘son’ picked up a G19 Gen 6 this summer, and it’s a great shooter. Got me thinking again…

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
The G19 killed a pig with that ammo. So, what…..a half inch shorter barrel? Can’t amount to much loss.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:11 pmOk, thanks! And, I’ve been eyeballing the G48 with optic as a personal gun.

Got lucky with mine, pretty soon after they were released I got one. Could have got more. Guess I should have. I browsed last night…like you said….nada. Zip. Yep, I set it up for getting reminders when they’re in stock again. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for the heads up

"In 1986, when faced with the problem of a piece of broken slide flying off the frame into the shooter's face, Beretta redesigned their slide so the broken piece couldn't leave the frame. When faced with the same problem in 1907 John Browning redesigned the slide so it couldn't break".
That notion is basically what's at the center of my thoughts on red dot mounting systems, and it's a big part of why I was so resistant to them initially - "We spent a hundred years evolving these pistols to the point where you can drop them in a swamp for a week and they will come up shooting, and now you're telling me you want your sights to be depending on glass, gears, circuit boards, and batteries with a couple of tiny screws that look like they were holding the back plate on your watch to keep it all together???"
My partner & I have been dealing with a number of different guns, optics, and mounting systems, and we've arrived at a system where we're combining a couple different types of threadlocker, micro torque wrenches, and a 24 hour cure period before we shoot them. Even then, we still get some of them working loose - either at the plate to slide or the plate to optic junction. There's also a fair bit of head scratching to figure out stuff like: "These six optics use the same mounting plate, which includes six different lengths of screws to account for the different deck heights. . ." Then there's making sure your right side plate screw is the one short enough not to bind up your gun's extractor hardware. . .
Essentially, my gripe to the industry is that it's at a point where a specialist like me, who's paying job it is to install it right, still has to apply a fair bit of study and concentration to keep from getting it wrong. And even when done right, it's still not as failure-proof as we need it to be. The end-users doing the work? Ummmm. . .no. Aimpoint has a fair understanding of what it takes to be "Marine-proof" and the COA looks like a good start in the right direction - we'll see.
But again, more on the .22.
