1 1/2 years and my fourth surgery!

Post by Freezer »

It has been interesting. I hope this is the last at least for a while! Oral cancer and neck lymphnode removal, L ankle surgery, L ankle replacement and now a growth and nerve removal between my third and fourth toe on my right foot today. Deer archery opens this weekend. I have a few special hants to come...I should be ready.

I was admitted at 5:30 and on my way home at 10:30. I'm in my recliner with my leg propped, and ice pack strapped on and very little pain. I'll sleep downstairs tonight and see how it goes. It will be very nice to walk without pain in my right foot this season, my left ankle still hurts but I'm making progress. It sucks getting old but at least I can fight the effects and change some of the parts.

You are in my prayers brother. Life is something that needs to be beaten back at times, but we need to use those to make the good times sweeter. I hope you get a monster buck this season!!!

I've had a number of surgeries on my joints through the years, this is the second best I've had. I've kept my foot raised and iced. This morning I decided to take a shower, I put on the shower boot and realized I didn't need the shower chair. Once I got dressed I thought I don't need this gauze all the way up to my knee so, I dug out the gauze pads and surgical tape to make some adhustments before my wife got out of bed to stop me.

I have an 1 1/4 in incision with four stitches. There was some drainage but that has stopped. Swelling and brusing are minimal. I cut a 1 inch gauze pad to cover the stiches, applied the 1 1/2 inch tape, then put on a slip over support I had to relieve the pain before I had the surgery. I got my usual sock on! I'll continue to keep it raised and iced. I think I could get into a shoe but I'm not going to push it yet. If I get to a Goodwill store and buy the next size up boot I'm sure I could be sitting in my blind this evening. Archery started this morning.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers

That awesome! Yep, don’t rush progress. It usually leads to a setback.
