Like I need another .22
Like I need another .22
Walked into my LGS a little while ago. Saw a beat up looking SA laying in the corner of the display case. JC Higgins Ranger on the barrel.
Looked it up:made by High Standard. It’s a 9 shot, SA/DA, with a swing out cylinder. Feels good in the hand. Barrel looked fine. Couldn’t resist the $249.95 price.

Thanks.
Gonna try it out later today.
There is also a Remington 510 Targetmaster for $199. Good wood. Expected metal finish which has been varnished for $199. I’ve got enough old .22 rifles right now.

Don’t hold back, CPJ! Tell me how you really feel!!
I know.
But I have bought 3-4 in the last couple of years to “rehab”. Haven’t started on them.

The proper amount of old .22 rifles is the number you currently have, plus one.

It’s a good shooter. Can ring 6” & 8” gongs all day long. Even DA. I really like the way it fits in my hand.
Re: Like I need another .22
Wrong.
The proper number of .22's to own is correctly defined as "obscene".

Congratulations on the acquisition
I have a similar gun.
A high standard double nine I think mine was called.
The DA on mine sucks
First time I've seen a Sears version

It's kind of funny looking back at that time frame.
Lots of " cowboy" guns were made.
Some mainly for kids
One of the oddest ones was a savage single shot

That’s awesome!!! I love OOOOOLD westerns and it’s funny to see those used as movie guns in quite a few of the lower budget ones
If you feel a little enterprising, about an hour with some fine sandpaper and a can of Alumahyde will make it look like new. IIRC they fit in Ruger Single-Six holsters.

Haven’t tried holsters yet. Haven’t had time this weekend to think about any refinishing. Something to think about doing once I retire next year(fingers crossed!!!)
Thanks Zee!!
