Welcome! Glad to have you here, and another Texan to boot!
And to Zee- I want thermal, I just can’t afford the stuff that some shoe-salesman showed me. So I just keep buying weird stuff instead of saving up

Re: Welcome a good friend for me!
Was pretty close. I wanted to make a special mount for this bird. It was so colorful and big I wanted to use as much as I could. It was a fun mount. It cost me about 45 bucks with the mounting board, borax and the clear adhesive calk.

Me either I look really old, I feel much younger. Most days… except when Sako and I start hiking around at 10,000 feet above sea level.

David, I have reaped the rewards of your due diligence on the ranch, amazing how those whitetails have developed, keep up the good work, I keep trying to get some copilots to make another trip, kids won’t save any money, Zee makes them stay up too late

Welcome David! I think we're gonna get along fine.
My particular brand of Fudd-ism: anything "new" in the gun world has to pass a serious acid test, because in most cases (if you know enough and look hard enough) it's either new sheet metal on top of the same old car, a Frankenstein's monster of several old cars, or a project of how to make the old car more cheaply. And of course the industry will try to pawn it off as the greatest thing since flush toilets and electric light bulbs, selling it for more, regardless of how much cost is saved in making the thing.
Meanwhile, the Russia/Ukraine conflict continues to dust off and employ a lot of WW1/WW2 equipment because, two world wars couldn't wear it out or render it obsolete, and HEY!, it works!
