Now if that was an F-4 I could be at home and do simulated low level navigation..

Printed chassis for my savage .22 rifle. Computer rendering anyway. Carbon fiber tube for the stock.
Currently on the machine, the full version. I’ve printed a couple partial pieces for testing purposes.

Re: The last person to post in this thread don’t get nothing.
Got a pole saw and cleaned up what I could reach with it on the ten trees in front. Filled up trailer like this twice. I need to get a hitch on the mower. The truck leaves tracks in the yard. I have more moss than grass in the front.

Burned a pile from the tree that fell in the yard during a storm. Caught a bagworm nest on fire in the tree above. Went out on it's own. Which is good because it was 30' in the air.

Nope.
It’ll be stiff enough to kill possums, rakins, and dillers.
It ain’t a bench gun anyway.
But, I’m curious how it will turn out with the carbon fiber filament. This is just the fit test, more or less.

Re: The last person to post in this thread don’t get nothing.
This version is 4ish hours.
The final version will be more.
It will have more wall thickness, and an higher percentage of infill.
Prints are rarely solid, but hollow with infill. Typically a cross hatch pattern to save material. And solid parts aren’t that much stronger, and sacrifice weight and material.
This is using cheaper filament, to confirm final design changes. The original model was from an accutrigger model. Mine isn’t. I had to modify it. And Savage, God love ‘em, enjoys changing designs more than I change under britches.
As long as it is all good, then I’ll use the more pricey filament and make it for real.

A few issues were noted, but it’s 98% there.

Nice work!
Put a hose clamp around the stock attachment and give her a go.
What is the cost of the "practice" filament vs the good stuff?
Where did you get the plans?

Re: The last person to post in this thread don’t get nothing.
Filament cost was around $4 for the normal stuff. The other would be roughly $10-ish? Not sure. Might be more, actually.
Files were found through instagram, that horrible, worthless, social media sight. Same place thats allowed me to have contact with people who manufacture all kinds of firearm related things to professional antenna designers (who knew that was a thing?) to people who machine parts for space ships.
Anywho, its this guys design, but I had a fair amount of hours modifying it because Savage is dumb and has to change their mind on how they make their rifles.

Very cool.
And I thought reloading was a hobby.
You be makin' stuff!

I just tell my robots what to make, and they make it. Just press the go button.
If it was only that simple.

I only bought my 3D printer to make parts for my airguns. I've been making kits that convert crosman 1322 and 1377 models to PCP and had to make barrel bands to replace the factory ones. It took me a while on tinkercad to figure out how to make my own parts but now that I know how to design, it's not too bad. Here are the barrel bands. I also learned that PLA+ with 100% infill is extremely strong.

Yep, it’s strong. And knowing the tricks for designing parts to be printed can make them stronger.Justsomedude wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 10:13 pm I only bought my 3D printer to make parts for my airguns. I don’t, so I just add material.

Re: The last person to post in this thread don’t get nothing.
It took me a bit of messing around and then online research into all of the settings like the retraction speed, layer height, heat, etc... before I finally got super clean prints. I also did a dual z axis and bed bushings with a much better hot end and now it prints much better than an Ender 3 should.

Surprised it took you this long to make them.

You have a pretty wicked curve upward.
