I have to run premium in all of my Hemis, and it's been running me well over $4.00 for a long time now down here.

$2.89 today at Race Track in Mt. Dora, FL. Been going down steadily as a result of less demand, and the reopening of some refineries that needed maintenance and are now back online.

About $4.60 for Arco 87 octane. Maybe another $.50 to a buck at the Chevrons and Shells.

Your situation could be far different from mine, but I’ve been driving Hemi trucks for 7-8 years and have never put premium in them. Just regular 86. At 4000 ft elevation and the trucks computer can pull timing if it senses detonation. They’ve never given a hint of detonation. Only way I’d run premium in them is if they were supercharged. Closer to sea level, maybe..

I honestly don’t even pay attention to the price of fuel. I’ve gotta have it. Might as well just buy it. I think it’s in the mid $2 range here.

Get a kick out of people talking about XYZ gas station has it 15 cents cheaper than everywhere else… Those places that have long lines of people waiting for a gas pump because it’s cheaper. Even if it’s 30 cents cheaper, if you have a 30 gallon tank that’s dead empty, you just saved $9… And wasted time dealing with other idiots trying to get a gas pump. Most times it’s far less than 30 cents difference and pumping far less than 30 gallons. I’ll spend the extra few dollars and go somewhere that’s not full of people..

Unlike my dad, I won't drive 10 miles to save $0.01/gal.
HOWEVER, when I need gas, I usually go to whichever of the known "normally cheaper" stations is closest along my route. The murphy station I filled up at yesterday added AT MOST 0.5 miles to my errand. With it being the last "Home game weekend" of the season, it actually made my trip easier by giving me turn lights at the main thoroughfares.
One the way home, I saw gas as high as $2.99/gal.

My late paternal grandmother's favorite saying was, "If you look after the pennies, the dollars will look after themselves"
$6 for a half mile? I'll make that trade seven times a week and twice on Sunday

Edited to add: When travelling, I'll normally pick a "built up" exit with multiple options and pick the cheapest, or the easiest to get in and out of if they're the same price

In the last week I've seen as low as $2.87 at a Velero, to $3.19 at a Marathon. I always go with Marathon gas.

I guess the idea behind my rant is more about going to places like Walmart or Sams Club for fuel. Those places generally are cheaper than most gas stations. But they’re also usually packed with people. People honking at each other, getting mad because someone cut in line or stole their pump, etc…. Even if I’m right next to one of those places and they’re cheaper, I’ll go somewhere else. It’s not worth $5 to me.

Now that I think about it, I pretty much only go to two gas stations. The one closest to my house, and the one closest to my office. I usually stop for gas on my way to work or on my way home. I go through a tank every 4 or 5 days for normal commuting.

There’s only two gas stations within 5 miles of my place. I go to the closest and easiest one. That one is at $2.69 right now.

Neither the Sam's, nor the Walmart Neighborhood Market have the lines you're talking about, and they're 2 of my 3 regular stops. The 3rd is the Murphy Oil I stopped at yesterday
It.s 1.3 mi to Sams, 1.4 to Wally Market and 1.5 to Murpy. Murphy's the one I visit least, but it was the only one close to being on the way to the errand I had to run yesterday

In the manual it says 89 for peak performance but 87 is acceptable. Never put a drop of 89 in any of my 3 Hemi's.

I'm the same as you, including living at 4,000 feet, except I will only run "Top Tier" fuel in my rides. Down here that means Chevron, but in Tucson there are numerous stations that have it. My 2500 Ram is a 2004, and says to use 89 octane in the owners manual, but then I've done stuff to it so I run the 91. There is no 93 octane here.

I intend to never purchase another vehicle, so mine all get what I believe to be best for them. That said, my other rides are Challengers, and one of them I have modded into a boosted, 392 stroker. My stroker, pictured here, makes a little under 800 HP...

With modern knock detectors I don't think you could hurt anything stock with 87. Maybe lose a couple HP. My wife's Range Rover has a sticker for 91 and the service manager at the dealer told her that 89 is fine. Occasional 87 wouldn't hurt

My wife uses an app called Upside. You save a few cents on gas, but you have to go to the stations they list. Most around here are crappy old Circle K's and Speedways. I only use top tier gas from newer stations like Marathon, Shell, Mobil, or Sunoco. I think that is more important in the long run.

Most Marathons around here are Bell Stores and have a Laser Wash touchless carwash. You can save $.10-$.15 a gallon when you get a wash. Once the road salt starts, I get the cheapest wash every other fill-up (10-14 days) just for the under body spray. Sometimes every fill-up if it's extra salty...

$2.85-2.95 around here. I saw $2.64 in Tupelo earlier today. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen in quite some time.
