Now I know most identify Las Vegas and just about all of Nevada with the strip. Well…. It’s not. A few miles just outside the city and you can find yourself in the middle of nowhere. State, BlM, National land and outdoor adventure opportunities are everywhere! Breathtaking views are around every bend of the road, and my daughter and SIL love the outdoors.
So today my daughter, wife and I loaded the Jeep and headed out of town. Found a dirt trail that went off-road through some BLM land and after a few miles of spectacular desert views and not having seen another soul for a while, we veered of the trail on to a wash and started shooting at improvised targets of opportunity.
We were packing light:
An early 1900s 5 screw S&W in .38 spl, a Uberti SA 7 1/2” in .45 Colt, the Ruger Vaquero birdshead in .45acp and my Glock 48 MOS with the Holosun sight.
The girls had not shot in a while and they were both a little apprehensive of looking foolish. No chance of that! Good foundation and fundamentals, a few quick corrections and making sure they did not fall on old bad habits, within a few rounds they stopped shooting the improvised short distance targets and started taking on targets of opportunity 40-70 yards away. Both LOVED the 48 with the Holosun and where making clods of dirt explode as far as they wanted to. Crazy how easy the damn red dot makes that happen.
Great day all around, might just need a rerun tomorrow when my SIL gets back to town
