Hmmm?

Since you're using cut-down rifle brass, which is presumably thicker in the case web, what's your case capacity compared to 9x19? Reduced, would be my guess Since you're seating to the same OAL to fit in a 9x19 mag, isn't this whole concept going to have LESS velocity potential?

Not if it improves your ability to stuff a faster burning power that will take advantage of the thicker brass and higher pressure. Dicey AF but looks good on paper. I would even play with lighter .380 bullets to make some fun laser beams 😎

You're grossly overthrowing this thing. The case difference is only at the web, like you said and its negligible, in the thousandths. Plus an extra 3mm long case can hold alot of powder.

Best I could do to show where each bullet ends.

I like the concept! I bet it’s a screamer

Now lets try 158gr .357 cast

I got my new barrel. Pretty nice for $39 and change. I'll be doing the lathe work tomorrow and probably posting a video of its maiden firing of the new cartridge. If I can get the chronograph to work indoors I'll try to get a velocity or two although the 3 rounds I have loaded aren't much hotter than what I normally load my carry ammo to. Also ordered 100 rounds of brass to be able to experiment with.

Today did not go through. Let's just say mistakes were made (partly due to a customer interrupting my lathe time on the barrel.) I had to get a new barrel but thankfully a buddy of mine lives about 10 minutes from AIM Surplus so he picked me up another.
I will not be dissuaded 😅

Big fan of Aim Surplus! Just bough a ton of LE Only 147gr 9mm for a song. But I digress...

Been sick with what I'm assuming is the flu all week but finally dragged myself around to do some experimenting. A buddy of mine is helping me with the starting numbers on my loads. He says that anywhere from 7.3 to 7.8 grains of Longshot should get me where I want with keeping the pressures safe. I'll start even lower than that but I wanted to see how much powder it could potentially hold in this case and still seat a bullet without a compressed load (of Longshot.) 11.3 grains 😳. I'd say I have case capacity to spare.

I'm thinking it'll maybe hang up there with 357 Sig, maybe more or less. Definitely up there with 38 Super and beats 9mm Win Mag. Neat thing is that it's in a glock.

These would be wicked! A hollow point solid copper bullet.

I finally got around to cutting my chamber deeper by renting a 350 legend reamer. First test fire and this thing is promising. Although I'm unable to grab a chronograph number in my shop, the recoil and fireball is substantial 😳. It's also extracting and feeding just fine. It reminds me of shooting a Coonan 1911 in 357 Mag.

Where you renting reamers from?

4D and Elk Ridge. I prefer Elk Ridge buy they didn't have a 350 Legend reamer. Ive had a few bad experiences with 4D but they have a better selection. I'm actually quite pleased with how well the 350 Legend chamber transitioned into the present 9mm chamber in the aftermarket barrel i bought. The fired brass looks fantastic.

Well, you seem to have all your fingers and facial features intact, soooooooo, so far so good!

Another update:
I have an average velocity of 1582fps. My buddy has been helping me with load development and according to the minimum and maximum he suggested, I'm still .2 grains from his recommended maximum using Longshot so I can probably get to 1600fps (I'm guessing here)
I don't see anything that would lead me to believe that it's reaching dangerous pressures and extraction is good along with the primers.

I’ve heard that about 4D, which is why I asked. Rather I heard some folks had bad times with one of the places, but couldn’t recall which.

The 2 instances I can remember off the top of my head was having rented a 350 legend reamer another time and using it to ream a full rifle chamber in an M77. Everything went well, cleared chips often, proper rpm and lots of cutting fluid and no chatter. Got an email a month later after I returned it that it had "unusual wear" and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it or pay to have it sharpened. They weren't hearing any "excuses", according to him. I paid to have it resharpened.

Second time (can't remember what caliber reamer) a few months passed by after I returned it and they contacted me saying their records showed I never returned. Thankfully I had the USPS receipt in my center console so I grabbed it and ran the tracking number which showed it delivered. I sent an email with screen shots of all that. They replied with, "Oops, we found it with the help of your tracking number, thanks." I'm sure they would have charged me had I not had that receipt.

Elk Ridge offers cheap insurance AND a return shipping label.

And a MONTH later saying it had unusual wear?
How about you gargle my balls for a month? (That’s what I would say)

Pretty much but didn't want to burn a bridge. That cost me $80 for the resharpen. I have a good selection of reamers, ALL of the most common stuff and I probably would have just bought that one had I known I might need it more than once. I now take magnified before and after pics to cover my ass. The Elk Ridge people are fantastic though.
