Kel-Tec KSG 12ga / 00 Buck Federal Flight Control

Post by Zee »

Buddy of mine who has been slowly giving me his guns over the past few years decided to give me another one.
He’s getting older and has some health issues. So, I help him out when he needs it. He decided yesterday that he likely wouldn’t shoot his KSG anymore as it hurt him too bad to shoot. Decided I needed it.
He had it set up with flip up iron sights, a laser, and a sling. He had been shooting 3” #4 Buck through it. I got it home, took the sling and the laser off and mounted an EoTech I had on the shelf. Took it to the ranch to sight in after chores.

Got it sighted in at 10 yrds and confirmed POI at 20yrds.

Recoil isn’t bad with the 2-3/4”Buck and I didn’t have any issues with the downward ejecting shells hitting my forearm like I’d read about.
Everything cycled well with no malfunctions. I have to say, I’m impressed with the Flight Control and how it patterned out of the cylinder bore choke!
Overall, a fun compact gun that holds 14 rounds in the tubes and one in the chamber!! Pretty handy HD or truck gun for its capacity and compact size.

Handy gun to have when the zombies come, or just for fun.

Wouldn’t be a bad follow up gun for tracking out wounded game in brush. Might break it out next deer season when I’m guiding.

There is an interesting method of killing coyotes in Wyoming. In the winter while touring around on your snow machine you spot a coyote and push it into deep snow then get close and zip it with a shotgun…..sounds like your pig 4 wheeler game!🤣

And here I was always told that you didn't need to aim with a shotgun.

Just point and fire in the general direction of the target and they will fly backwards on impact.

Just step outside, rack the action and follow the trail(s) of urine and/or feces when they flee in terror.

Kel-tec has improved its reputation over the years. I've got a .32 apc and it's fine. Shotgun looks like fun. How old is your generous friend? I'm 79 and still in my prime.

Of note, the trigger on the KSG leaves much to be desired. Long, heavy, creamy, and spongy. But, it works.
