Ruger 10/22 Issues - Thoughts?

My rancher friend has had a 10/22 for ever since I’ve known him. He had a Green Mountain barrel installed and a Volquartsen Trigger before we met and since I’ve known him, that rifle was a one hole gun. Sighted in at 35 yards, we used to shoot ground squirrels and Ringneck Dove in the heads for the pot.
Recently I’ve noticed the accuracy going to crap. I replaced the cheap Weaver Rings with Leupold and shot it. No improvement. I replaced the factory plastic stock with barrel band for a spare Hogue free floating stock and no improvement. I cleaned the barrel (not a deep lead removing clean but a light carbon clean) with no improvement. Today I swapped the Nikon scope and Leupold rings for one of my Leupold and Mk4 rings………with no improvement using 3 different types of ammo.

Those groups are at 25 YARDS!!! They SUCK!!!

Only other thing I know to do is deep clean the barrel or replace the barrel.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Deep clean and try different ammo.
Stingers are garbage accuracy wise.
As are that white box stuff. (In my experience)
The segmented, I don’t know. Never shot it.

The question is….did it shoot any of that better BEFORE?

Make sure the barrel is snugged down.

It shot the white box well. The other is unknown.

This. Look for any play between barrel and receiver. Check for even small damage to crown.

I’ll check.

What gets me is two close and a zinger with every group. And not just a little out. WAY out.

And check the barrel clamp, make
Sure it’s not cracked. It’s kind of a bastard setup, even with the factory barrel.

Barrel clamp meaning the one holding the barrel to the action

Just wondering......is the ammo you used from the same batch as what you used to shoot?
Reason I ask is that lately I have found the quality control of recently made .22 ammo sucks balls. I only use sub sonic ammo for pest destruction but lately every 5th or 6th round comes out supersonic and some of my rifles are showing signs of the groups expanding... .
Run 5 or 10 of the rounds through your chrony and see how much each round varies....

Barrel clamp screws, then deep clean, then shoot enough of your known good ammo to season it back in. Probably 20 rounds should do it.

Probably not the stock if the accuracy issues started well after the change.

The V Block Torque value is either 8 or 9 in lbs for a green Mt Barrel
Maybe after many rounds it loosened a little as it's so light to begin with?

I hadn’t thought about the v-block. I’ll check that.

That’s what I meant by barrel clamp. Make sure it’s not cracked.

Checked crown. Cleaned the barrel with my Rimfire Blend and checked the V-Block. Nothing apparently amiss.
Gonna try another assortment of ammo this evening.

Since it is not the V-Bloçk, can it be simply the barrel is shot out? It has been super hot, maybe beat effecting follow up shots or heat effecting ammo?

Interesting conundrum

I see thunderbolts in your picture if things went south after using them......get the lead out.

Maybe try some better ammo. The RWS is the only thing pictured that has potential. But of course you never know with Rimfire ammo.

Funny I’ve actually had great luck with Thunderbolts in a few rifles.

Did you just go from one to the other? If so that is not optimal for accuracy testing.

Looks like an improvement?
What changed ?

Wambli my nephew had a brick of those thunderbolts that turned a rifled barrel into a smooth bore in very short order.
