Since I'm new in town I've been utilizing my time effectively by going around visiting gun stores and making friends. I love having conversations with these folks (owners/managers, they are usually very productive and sometimes I even get nice deals on guns.
Sooooooo, what I keep hearing is that all of them are sitting on piles of inventory of guns AND ammo!!! They all say that after the election sales have slowed down substantially and while there was a panic for the last few years it seems to be fading quickly. I've been scanning my emails too and there are scads of AR's on sale in the $300s range and I just saw one today with AR Pistols for high $300s. New FNs on sale for 50% off out there. I think it's going to get crazy soon, so if you're planning to get another AR or Glock, or Glockwannabe hold on to your wallet for a bit. You'll get some great deals soon. I don't think this is local, I hear the same from folks I know all over the place but feel free to chime in with your local weather forecast.
BTW commercial 9mm range ammo is now $12/box for 9mm stuff and .45 is heading down in price too. GOBS of inventory/sales at BPS in-store, they are my weathervane...
I guess the nice thing about all the cycles of panic buying we've had since the time of Slick Willie, even our dogs and cats are armed with AR-15's now.
I'm curious as to what pistol ammo pricing is going to look like. The world's been heavily shifting to 9mm, so that's getting produced by the freight car and gotten cheap. My perception has been that everything else has gotten more expensive because with the smaller production runs, the economy of scale isn't there. A round of .380 is using maybe 20-30% less material, and yet it's costing more. Boggles the mind.
WWJMBD?
I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.
