New Lightweight Varmint Rifle!

Post by Zee »

Picked up a new Sig Cross Trax a bit ago. And then was gon for awhile. Finally got to work on her this afternoon.

.243 Win
16” 9T Barrel
5.9 pounds (clean)
20 MOA integral rail
2.5lb trigger
Folding stock

Added a brake/can, and an ARCA Rail, and a K2 Grip.

Currently put a spare Leupold scope on it for accuracy testing with various loads. Eventually, it will wear a Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 Pro Thermal Scope for night work.
Hope to shoot it for accuracy tomorrow.

I love my other .243 Win (Medium) for deer and yotes. I just needed an excuse for a lightweight night time varmint rifle to tote around with a tripod. This one fit the bill absolutely perfectly!! Hope it shoots.

If it shoots, it’ll be easier to tote around for yotes and pigs.

Congrats! That is about the only chassis style rifle I even remotely find appealing

Purely function driven. Not aesthetic.

I actually prefer the Aero Precision Chassis I have on a couple rifles. But, what I like about the Sig is that it light and handles like an M4. .

I realize I am a minority on this forum in my preferences. But, they are purely function driven and results oriented for what I do and need.

That looks perfect for throwing over your shoulder at 0dark30, trecking across a farm field looking for hogs.
I am curious, what do you consider light?

I’m beginning to see the beauty in purely functional setups.

Hey, you're picking YOUR rifle. If you're happy, I'm happy

Most of what I carry around are 12+ and then tripod and gear.

I want to try my 58/85/87/95/105 loads in it and see how it does. So I know what to sight it in for with the thermal.

I do like those. Price is a bit too steep, but I do like the weight and features.

I'm thinking maybe we should call them "surf rifles" as in "TOTALLY TUBULAR, DUDE!!"

Good on the industry if they're getting the weight down. Haven't really thought of chassis rifles being mountain rifles. Cool.
