New rig so now I need a new gun… 🤣

Post by Wambli Ska »

Have I mentioned I LOVE western leather and I’m always in the hunt for nice examples of it?!?!?

Not a new gun (yet) but now I need one. Got a new rig for a 7.5” SA. The loops on the eBay listing said they were for a .22 which I immediately knew they were not from the pictures. But I have a sweet early 1900s Marlin 1994 lever action in 32-20 that needs a companion sidearm.

The deal was too good to pass up and I was right. Custom made and it fits like it was made for me. It is apparent that no gun or cartridges have ever been inserted into the belt loops or holster, the rig still has all the new leather squeaks that I need to wear out of it. The cartridges in the picture are 32-20 and I put them in and I used one of my .45 Colt guns to check fit.

Now the hunt for a 7.5” 32-20 SA starts… 😎

I saw the site too. All their work is custom. The belt is lined with suede and the leather is a very nice weight. The stamping is well executed. No clue what it cost originally but quite frankly based on quality.... I stole it.

Nice rig! Ruger may still make a SAA in .32.20/.32 HR mag, interchangeable cylinder's.

There’s a few floating around but that Creek fella has me sold on a full sized 7.5 SA in 32-30. He keeps telling me how much “fun” the dang gun is… 🤬

I never had an appreciation for holsters like that until my dad and I were at a gunshow where some Mexican guys had a booth making holsters. He wanted one just like yours for his Vaquero. They made it while we waited and watched. Those boys have some serious skills. I got the 44 Smith and Wesson and my brother inherited the Vaquero and holster. I also love the 32-20 and wish I would have kept the Colt that I bought from a customer a year or two ago chambered in it.

A real Colt in 32-20? Don’t think I could have let go of that.

And yes, watching a talented leather maker work is just amazing. I probably visited my saddle maker just about every day while he was working on mine. He was defy generous of his time and knowledge. Even let me do a few basic things on my own saddle so I could get a feel for it. It was amazing!

I just found another nice piece of leatherwork going on another thread.

Ok, now on my watch list. Looks like it has a lot of miles on it, but the listing says mechanically good. Thanks!

It’s coming, but I’m pausing purchases until I buy a new house and REALLY unpack everything I own. I just had to order gun cleaning supplies from Amazon because I can’t find any of mine. I KNOW I have two TUBS of cleaning crap somewhere in my garage. I’ll be damned if I know where or how to get to them…
