Alien Gear Holsters
Alien Gear Holsters
I like paddle holsters...I find them pretty darned handy on most days...So I've been looking for one for the new Glock 30. Holy Crap...I had no clue it would be so involved....nobody had one for that model...Finally located one that was decently affordable from Alien Gear. I ordered their Shape Shifter...(sp) on Tuesday and it arrived today (Thursday)...Upon opening up the package, there were a bunch of pieces parts, some quite small...at first glance the whole thing seemed unnecessarily over complicated for a freaking holster...and...nowhere in the package, were any instructions...just some dohicky that I'm supposed to take a picture of that will take me to a YouTube channel or some such nonsense...The Allen wrench they sent to assemble this thing rounded off in the first 10 minutes, ...so just throw that thing away right off the bat...it takes a T6 torx bit...Finally got the thing together and spent the rest of the afternoon wearing it while I did chores and found it to be a solid bit of kit with good adjustable retention...Only thing I don't care for is that that toe of the holster is closed...no drain hole if I go swimming with it...I'll fix that...

Probably not on purpose…
I have one Alien Gear holster… somewhere. It was not very concealable so I stopped wearing it. But I bought it probably 10 years ago, so I’m sure it’s different now.
Not sure why that would have a closed end, though. I’d probably drill out the end of it pretty quickly

It's not as concealable as my leather Galco Combat Master, which really rides high and tight.but its kind of a pain in the butt to have to thread it on and off the belt multiple times a day...bullsi1911 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 2:07 amProbably not on purpose…

Can’t beat these guys, more than reasonably priced, good service, good bit of kit.

Very comfortable holsters but as you mentioned, lots of "bits". Loctite everything once you have it set to your liking... Don't ask.

Can you make (good) holsters with a printer?CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 2:58 pmSeems like they only carry holsters for the cool guns.jbp-ohio wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 1:51 pmNo 30 listed.CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 3:19 am Can’t beat these guys, more than reasonably priced, good service, good bit of kit.

Not really. Not that I would trust. The layer lines the machine makes (hundreds of them) to create the shape are each a failure point.
I’ve seen some files , but never tried them.

For a long time, Aliengear positioned themselves as one of the "cheap" holster makers, hinging their bets on a cheaper copy of the Crossbreed style holster. It looks like lately they are trying to move up market, and actually offer a "duty style" holster to compete with Safariland that seems to have good reviews.

Yep...as soon as I got the set up figured out it became obvious that some loctite was called for...since I didn't want to be leaving a trail of pieces parts all over the place...Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 4:14 am Very comfortable holsters but as you mentioned, lots of "bits".
