A 300BO kind of day

Post by GrapeApe »

Went to the range today. I took 2 300BO uppers and my 8.5" pistol. Mine and the wife's 16" carbine uppers plus my pistol. Wife's Bear Creek upper is still shooting well.

That's 3, including the cold bore shot @ 100.
Adjusted it 1/2" right and then shot a nice 5 shot group on one of the corner targets.

Tried some PSA "Sabre Blade Black Tip" in my 16" and it doesn't shoot nearly as well as the previously used Hornady ammo, though it does seem to hit the same POI. Also had the first misfire I've had in a LONG time with it. The groups were in the 3 MOA range @ 100 :(

My 8.5" pistol has a Primary Arms 2.5x prism scope with ACSS reticle. Since it's main use is HD/SD, I shot it @ 50 yards and aimed by centering the target's diamond in the "horseshoe"

It'll do what I need it to do in its HD/SD role :D

Since one of my cans does double duty on my pistol and my 16", I got the misfire to go off in my pistol with it's YHM Mini QD Muzzle Brakewithout the can attached, while the can cooled on the carbine upper. HOLY FIREBALL BATMAN!!! That Sabre Blade Black Tip put out such a large fireball that I was afraid I'd burned my face. Plus it is LOUD!!!, even with ear-pro on (I'll be making sure to keep the can on it when it's in it's HD role)
Here's a link to it if your interested

And here's the reticle in my pistol's scope

It's been a while since I did any shooting other than testing my Dagger. It was a fun day fun punching paper

Thats good to know about the Black Tip ammo, I have not bought any rifle ammo in awhile and am watching the evening news wondering how hard it might be to find in certain calibers.

I have a couple of "flavors" of their 223 ammo to try as well
As dirty as the lower is, that MIGHT be part of/most of the culprit

I can’t complain about my BCA upper. Cheap and functional. I got the side charger. Far superior to “regular” uppers, save for the disassembly is a bit more involved

I have one also. Considered it kind of a novelty, but once I got it set up right it functions perfectly and is fairly accurate at 100 yards.

Only problem I've had with a BCA upper was with my pistol upper. It was SO over-gassed from the factory that it shattered the extractor the very first shot.

The lower I was using has an ELF trigger pack in it It MAY be "going bad" If I continue to get any misfires after cleaning and lubing it, the NIB Timney 3.5# I found in the man cave, that I'd forgotten I had bought, will get dropped in that lower.

Same. I have the 450 Bushmaster and a hacked up 300. My brother has a couple 223 and 7.62*39 uppers, and have zero complaints

They are really handy for a scoped rifle! No more awkward under scope grab…..
