First deer down, gutting advice from a six year old

Post by 12th Man »

My boys and grandkids came out for opening day. My middle son Mark took this nice 9-point. When we were gutting the buck, my six year old grandson gave me some advice.

Grandpa, if I were doing this, I’d go to the barn and get the hatchet. All you have to do is start swinging away on him. He’d be skinned and gutted in no time.

Omgosh, we almost wet ourselves laughing. One of my sons says, was he a Viking in a previous life. I said, what has he been watching on TV.

Great all around day at the J&D Ranch!

Hunting with friends and family is precious and the memories long-lived, they are stories too far-fetched to ever make up!

When I tell some of my stories, they're so good everyone knows you can't make it up, nobody is that creative!

Congrats on a great hunt and great story! It will be told in deer camp long after you're gone.

Thank you for sharing.

That was on our Side Rd stand as we call it. It's 163 yards to the feeder, this shot was right at 168 yard. Though on that stand you could shoot 350 yards which is the furthest shot. All of the other stands are 60ish to 93 yards. We try to keep them on the short side so there's always better success and rare misses.
