Upgrade Stable Table

Post by FJB »

Question for Caldwell Stable Table users.
I’ve used one for 10+ years for Prairie Dog shoots and have only put outdoor carpet on the tabletop. Thinkin about some modifications like a larger wooden top, a larger seat with more padding and maybe longer and more user friendly pins that hold everything together instead of the short finger pinchers.
Open to all suggestions and thanks for ideas ahead of time!

Got a pic of what it looks like now?

I am unfamiliar with it so took a look. Looks like a sturdy platform and easy to set up.
Making things larger usually means heavier. How far do you need to manually move it? Pin replacement should be a trip to the local hardware store and get one of your desired length. I can see that seat getting uncomfortable after a while, maybe a pad or stadium cushion

It’s a plain Jane Caldwell Stable Table. (Haven’t figured out the pic posting process yet.) Anyway, weight is no issue. We truck everything out to the dog towns. Ease of setup and comfort improvements are primary. My boney old butt doesn’t like the seat after a day or three and a backrest would be nice. I thought about long hitch pins to eliminate the stock little finger pinchers and considering a larger tabletop also for improved use. The existing top is ok but a bit small when playing with the larger rifles.
Again, thanks for the feedback!
