Like I really needed another….

Post by Rugerfan »

.22. I bought my first 10/22 tonight. Just couldn’t resist the price. I’m telling myself it’s for one of the grandkids.

I don't remember what I paid 25 years ago for one that was 25 years old then, but when you've been kicking yourself for being the only kid on the block without a 10/22, and a pre-warning label Deluxe Sporter shows up on the used rack, you do what's necessary.

I remember when they were much cheaper. I just never bought one. I have the Marlin Model 60 I got for Christmas many years ago and thought one .22 was enough.

Only in the past few years have I thought about getting a 10/22. Opportunity and money finally happened at the same time.

It was about 2005 I picked up the 10/22 at Big-5 for 179.00. That was the first time I new of that they put them on sale.

Wow, my first one was a Sporter with one of the prettiest figured walnut stocks I own and it set me back $149. Back then you could find the standard model with a Walnut stock on sale for $99 all day long. My son still has my original, lots of them have passed through my hands over the years and I think I still have 3-4 of them, only one is stock. A stainless model that is a one hole shooter with Remington Thunderbolts.

Good score. No clue if the scope is worth a damn but the hard case is a nice addition.

Be careful, they're addictingly easy to upgrade, and way cheaper than ARs.

And still one of the most satisfying gun buys out there. Good score!

Yeah, I don’t know about that scope either. Just looking through it in the store I wasn’t too happy but my son said it was alright for him. The “targets” were blurry for me until I figured out it was due to my progressive lens. I think if the scope was a little taller it might be better for me.

With that username, I would have assumed that you had 3 or 4 of them by now. I bought my first one for 68.00 in 77 and still have it, along with a couple more.

I’ve thought that, too. For some reason that gun just never appealed to me. By the time I started changing my mind the prices had gone up.

Definitely don't look up the auto bolt release mod, nor how easy it is to install Power Custom or Volquartsen replacement parts... Nope don't...

They are still a great deal on a bombproof proven design 👍👍
