Always wanted a matching set of small gauge SxSs…

Post by Wambli Ska »

So the opportunity presented itself and wife said yes to matching TINY round bottom framed Tri-Stars in .410 and 28ga!!!!!!

These things are pretty and I lucked out with the wood on both and the case hardening finish is deep and vivid.

They are now in purgatory Bass Pro Shop background check so it’ll be 3 or so days but with Christmas it’ll probably be late next week but hey, I know where they are 👍👍👍

Bad pictures but all I could do before they took them away.

You can see the difference between the 28 ga size frame on the left vs. the 20 on the right. The 28 and .420 are the same size frame.

No shortage of 28 ga ammo but not one round of .410 to be had. Oh well, you can’t win them all.

Nice! I've looked hard at the Tri-Star Bristol models in both 28ga and 20ga and for the money, they seem hard to beat. I will be very interested to hear a first hand report once you wring them out.

Check Walmart for 28ga shells. It's been a couple months but I got the Federal Top Gun stuff there for $14.99 and it shoots great out of my 28ga BPS

The reviews I read were good and handling them at the counter was quite the experience. They feel outright lively and I love the Straight English Grip. I’ll give a review as soon as possible. Very excited about the little .410 👍

Both. Lots of quail opportunities around here and I want to get back to pheasants since it’s been a while, but for now we’ve taking to heading out to BLM land with Daughter and SIL and busting a case of hand tossed clays fairly often. Great way to kill a cool afternoon.

Funny enough the cheapest at BPS were AAs for 16.99 so I grabbed 4 boxes for the 28. I’ll head to Walmart tomorrow since they had .410 last I checked. Thanks for the heads up 🪵

Correction, the .410 and 28 are not built in the same frame. TriStar states each gauge is built on its own properly sized frame.

Hardly! You have an enviable collection that makes me smile!!! When you get your .410 I’m sure it’ll take my breath away 😁

They are interchangeable screw n Beretta Mobile chokes and come with 5 of them each.

Thanks!

I don’t know about Nevada but they do in Arizona around my son’s house. Hell I’ve been tempted to pop a few in his backyard with my Red Rider 🤣

Tri Star makes some nice doubles...I have a couple...one in 16 gauge and the other in 12....As was pointed out...producing these guns with the correct frame size is a huge deal for me...

Big one for me too. The second I saw the .410 by the 28 and 20 it was live at first handling ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks!!! I had one for a while but it was built on a 12 ga frame and never felt right to me. These are THIN guns!!! The 20 is also a small round bottom frame and just slick! It was all I could do to stop myself from taking one of each 🤣

When I was in the Air Force there was a small gun shop in town that had Spanish made SxSs. They were pretty nice and $105.00,
for me in 1968 that was a little more then I had in my pocket.

Those Spanish SxS are very nice for sure, a fair amount of them from that time are still around, they’ve gone up in price a bit. In 1968 $105 was indeed a lot of money. I recall the first time my mom went over $100 on her food bill for a family of 5. We had about a cart and a half of stuff. Today $100 is a couple of bags. The outrage in her voice back then was monumental 🤣

I have had a lot of Spanish shotguns over the years from 20 gauge up to 3 1/2 " 10 gauge...not a disappointment in the bunch...
