Self isolation project........

Post by Orchidman »

Got given 3 miniature cannons by my cousins widow after he passed away a couple of years ago... She told me he would have wanted me to have them. Put them aside for a 'rainy day' project.
So I figured that while self isolating I would clean them up and so, got my Dremel out, stripped them down and got to work polishing............
Completed cleaning and polishing the first one at 1am this morning.
Here it is.....

Here is a comparison with the second one that I am about to start on......The first one has a brass barrel, the next one has a steel barrel...

Apparently they are capable of firing according to his wife.....he managed to shoot a hole in his neighbours fence when he first got them......They havent been fired since.

I expect a thermal scope and suppressor to be mounted soon. Then, range reports and cull testing pics.

No less.

I made a naval cannon in high school. I had the barrel and trunnions done. Never got the carriage finished. It disappeared from my parents house when I was in the Army.

Would have looked like this.......

That is such a cool project! I can't wait to see the other two, though before and after pics would be nice.

Will you do a range report and load work up? Maybe some #8 shot and plastic soldiers for effect? Do they still make Lincoln Logs? It would make a great model. How about a sugar cube wall?

Dagnab-it! Now I need one for the backyard, this sounds like fun.

You can’t own a cannon, man.
