Actually "early morning" too, the phone call went past 2400hrs.
And I HATE phones automatically flipping pictures, if it wasn't for the watch pocket and no safety being visible, it looks like your packing lefty.
I'll be curious to see how the QL calculated data compares to real world. Though with the longer COAL, I'm betting velocity and pressure are going to be lower than predicted
Not the phone flipping, I shot the picture from a mirror reflection. And thanks SO MUCH for forgiving me for forgetting the time difference

Did you ever catch your intruder?
Anyway, no chronograph today since I was just testing function and “potential”. And I MIGHT have found my load first try
It was cold and windy so I had no desire to linger but shooting grounds is a short drive away so no excuse not to get this done.
Set up some cans about 25 or so yards away so I could have something to aim at. Started with Al’s load as my benchmark and it worked as well as it has all along. A pleasure to shoot, mild and accurate.
Moved to the first load on of 37gr of AA2230. Felt considerably stouter that my benchmark but still very pleasant to shoot. Shooting at the cans showed good potential accuracy. So far so good

Got to the middle test load of 38 grains and feeling a little more confidence I spotted a 5 gal bucket at about 100 plus yards.

Put the front sight on it and the 3 shoots I sent down range “Quigleyd” the bucket into the air

Amazing! Dead on with the factory sight setting and definitely stouter than 37 but still a very comfortable load to shoot!
Moved to 39 gr and something interesting happened. Somewhat stouter than 38 BUT I got soot down the side of the case. Soooooo I think I’m stopping at 38. Normally soot means the case is not adequately sealing the chamber so I’m not in the danger zone.
But if the middle load chronographs at the expected 1400 or so or even over I’m close enough to my goal and I’ll just fine tune and go from there. A 350gr plated slug at that velocity is as good of a short range thumper hunting load as I’ll ever need
