What I find fascinating about this is that our tax dollars are being spent to determine the legal status of. . .a stick.
It's tempting to test the legal precedent here: "Based on the fact that it's legal for someone to go out, find a naturally-occurring dead tree and turn it into a club, I dug up this naturally-occurring iron ore and turned it into a Maxim machinegun. Why? Have you seen how many people are running around with clubs out there?"
