Cause?

Post by Centermass »

So, why did the old forum go down? Was that the result of the thread reaching 1K pages ?

Because guns and ammo pulled the plug for unknown reasons. Other than they were assholes.

Yep, they just announced one day that it was being unplugged. No reasons given.

It's not just Guns and Ammo. The publishing company pulled the Fly Fishing Forum's plug about a year ago, and pulled the plug on Florida Sportsman Forum (which was much larger than G&A) at the same time as Guns and Ammo.

Edited to add: all the listed magazines are owned by Outdoor Sportsman Group.

What Bream said. It really didn't have anything to do with us as a group, some suit just decided to pull the plug on their magazine forums. They probably said something about "shareholder value" when they did it too. Sadly, it should have been a profitable asset, but they declined to make it that way and completely neglected it.
There is skepticism and there is ignorance. Never confuse the two.

100% correct. A dinosaur that has never adapted profitably to the digital age. The place should have been a good mine as proven by other companies that run massively profitable forums.
