An interesting concept bullpup

It is a mil spec ar-15 lower in a A3 Tactical Triad bullpup conversion kit with a Unitah Precision 16” barrel chambered in 6.5 Grendel. A BCM handguard. 26 and 3/8 inch overall length. 7 pounds 2 oz’s. It is using a modified pistol buffer tube, to allow the bolt to move completely, while still mechanically locking the extended stock spacer to the lower receiver.

This is an interesting design that hasn't been explored much. My nephew is a fan of the bullpup design and wanted a bolt action bullpup that was shorter than a typical hunting rifle with a can on it. It was meant for 200-yard shots on deer and pig in the woods. It has a 16" bull barrel and though I would have preferred a light barrel, one was not available. Triad is interested in his design as there is only one design similar to this on the market, and it is $6000. This one cost him $2500. The barrel company guarantees sub moa.

That is kinda cool. Unlike most people, I think a bullpup has utility especially when you are getting into and out of vehicles and tight spaces like deer blinds.

But.. I’m not left handed, and have very little (like less than 20 rounds) on bullpups. So, I am far from an expert

Reminds me of a project I did about 40 years ago.
Mine involved parts from 2 Marlin Model 60's, a BIC pen tube, a bit of coat hanger and some strategically laid fiberglass.
Took about 7" off the OAL.
It worked but every time I shouldered it the balance was like swinging a hammer from the wrong end.
And it kinda sucked when I unknowingly handed it to a left handed girl.

That is exactly what it is designed for, thick woods and blinds. He is exceptionally concerned about his hearing and the can will handle that concern. Even with the can, it is shorter than a compact rifle. It's not my cup of tea, but I want to shoot it! I would like one with a 20 or 22" thin barrel and a little more speed. The bull barrel brings it to 7.3 lbs without a scope, with a scope and a can, it will be well over 8 lbs. A thinner barrel, no can, and 2x7 scope would make it less than seven lbs. A tactical chest hung sling and I might get to like this gun.
