Rimfire scope mounts

Post by Gene L »

I've forgotten all I knew about putting a scope on a rimfire. What are the grooves on a rimfire? Weaver size or something like that?

As long as you buy "rimfire" rings you should be good. I think the size is 3/8" or 11mm.

The grove is 3/8th. Get Leupold rimfire scope mounts. Unlike many others they are split in the center so they center themselves over the grove. I HATE the standard ones with a claw on one side. They almost never center accurately and over the years I’ve replaced all of them with the Leupold. They’re only $20.

I use those Leupold mounts a lot on centerfire rifles and revolvers. Inexpensive and work well. Never had an issue with them for cheap.

Yep, you got me started with the center fire ones and then I found the Rimfire version and bought 10 of them on my first order. They rock!

Well, the problem is a need mounts for a red dot, and I don't think there's room for a couple of rings. One ring, maybe.

What brand and model of dot?

Is it a 1” or 30mm? In either case for a .22 one mount is fine.

Not my first choice but if you’re trying to do a red dot on a grooved receiver… this may help.

I have used one of these to mount a red dot on the kiddo's CZ .22. It has held up and given no problems. Might be worth a try:

I ordered the one Elk Creek posted. For $7, can't go too wrong.

I got the dot mounted, but it's so high off the barrel I doubt it's going to work. The rifle is a Remington 10 C, not whatever I said before. I thought my vision was worsening, which is why I wanted the dot, but I think I'd rather keep it simple and clean.
