That'll work. We have room

Tangs are done. The bottom is still obviously roughed out so it'll be seamless when I contour everything into the wood but the fitment is spot on. I'll also fill in the wood where the bolt handle notch is. The removable lower tang will give me a place to put the trigger, making it easier on me.

Got only a little more done. I was getting ready to order the 4140 in 3/8" thick to start on the lever until I checked my business account and simultaneously got a text message from the fraud center about weird charges (literally at the same time, weird). Some àsshole got my numbers again and charged over 1k on stupid shìt like an airline ticket and a few hundred at a movie theater in Chicago 😒. Had to go to the bank and apply for a new card and dispute charges. Been without a card since last Friday and I typically order steel online. I guess I could go down to ALRO and pay cash but just been busy with other jobs.

I'm actually about to start the CAD (cardboard aided drafting) for the shape of the lever. It'll be used to trace out the lever on this 3/8" thick plate of 4140. Depending on how I feel about the design I might post the cardboard cutout that I like to see what the general concensus is on the aesthetics of it before I commit. I've been slammed with work so this has taken a back seat.

My initial thought is, "not too curly"

Can't wait to see what you come up with :D

If you’d just learn Fusion you could draw it and print as many variants as you want….

Dude
There are damn few individuals that can start with a metal billet a few pieces of lumber then design and produce a functioning firearm.

Second thought is something along the lines of the "Quigley" rifle.
Basically a hinged trigger guard without a dingus on the end
Still can't wait to see what you come up with :D

I like that but I'm struggling with how to incorporate a lever into this stock shape.

Unless I do a smaller, simpler lever and make a traditional trigger guard?

I wonder if you do a number 1 setup for the lever….

The quigley does away with the red part.
Terminate the blue where the red ends The trigger guard is part of the lever

Martini-henry style. you could make it long enough to blend with the curve of the stock.

Inlet it flush with the stock and leave a tab under the grip cap. Grip pressure would keep it closed no need for a latch or you could put a fancy detent at the rear of the trigger guard

I already have the detent design for the bolt that'll also keep the lever pulled tight against the reciever and stock. Mainly went with the idea because of its ease to make.

Based off of Paul's idea. Thoughts? Keep in mind I'm trying to go for simple if I ever want to mass produce these.
