Re: "Uncle" (hurricane) Milty

We lost power for an hour on Wednesday night. A small piece of shingle blew off the roof, and the phone and internet went down. Some roads washed out and flooding closed a few of them for a couple of days. Other than that, it wasn't too bad.

Re: Happy midlife crisis to me!

2024 KLR650. Now to not get dead whilst riding. One of the best ways to avoid having a crash with a car is to watch for vehicles coming out from the side. Slow down when crossing intersections, passing driveways and side streets. If a car looks like it might make a left turn in front of you, flash ...

Re: Happy midlife crisis to me!

That machine looks like one of those offroad/touring hybrids. Should be nice if you want to hit the trails for a change of pace while out riding the pavement. BTW, I bought some of those padded undershorts specifically for taking long rides. They work pretty well for my kind of riding. Without those...

Re: 'Warming' up to home tech......

I recently turned 78, but I like tech stuff. I'm just selective about it. I'm not going to spend a hundred $ on something that saves me 5 or 10 seconds of time and/or commits me to paying 25 bucks a month to run it. The only exceptions are smart phones, satellite TV and internet, which are almost a ...

Re: Welding Stanless Steel

Thanks....my Hobart 190 using 240V power will do welding with flux core wire or plain wire with gas on steel, gas with Aluminum wire and gas with Stainless. Now that flux core wire for stainless is available, I want to try that as well. I don't know how long this flux-core wire for stainless has bee...

Re: Welding Stanless Steel

Flux core will always be second best to inset gas shielded, but if you want to glue two pieces of metal together, it will do it, and do it fine for almost any use a home gamer will be using it for. It’s more expensive (per pound of wire) but you also don’t need a tank of gas. Thanks for the info. I...

Welding Stanless Steel

I recently learned that you can do MIG welding on stainless steel without using inert gases. There is a flux-cored welding wire available in a few different diameters that can be used to weld stainless. I watched a couple of Youtube videos on the subject, and the method doesn't seem to be much diffe...

It's the painters that screwed up. I'm surprised that the owners of the company didn't make them fix it before they did work for someone.

Want REAL revenge? Find some copper nails somewhere, and nail a few of them into the tree. They will kill the tree. You could also buy some Copper Sulfate in a garden store and put it around the base of the tree or mix with water and spray it on the leaves. Same result.

I'm a bit late, but I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. $2.89 today at Race Track in Mt. Dora, FL. Been going down steadily as a result of less demand, and the reopening of some refineries that needed maintenance and are now back online.

CAME DOWN WITH COVID LAST WEEK

I came back from a trip to North Carolina and a Maggie Valley 7 day motorcycle expedition last Monday. I started coming down with symptoms on Saturday night before returning half-way on Sunday. At first I thought it was from inhaling road dirt from the numerous road construction areas we rode throug...
