What will then happen? You'll be informed. Can you change things? I doubt it. I also think the rifle is like the M 14, bound to be replaced by something more mobile. I remember quite clearly here hooting at this and reading the rifle weighed eight pounds. That's a BIG difference. The average infantry recruits hasn't lifted anything heavier than a computer mouse. And I think the possibility of going to war with enemies wearing ballistic vests is low.

There's a big difference. It's my army and yours, to think about in depth. A 14# rifle will change infantry tactics forever. That's my dead horse.

In the real world. If it’s 8 pounds or 14, it doesn’t matter to me. Or anyone else, really. Besides possibly the troops schlepping it. But if 6 extra pounds is going to be the deciding factor in winning a war, we were **** with a capital F to begin with.

Yes I was a Ranger. I led a rifle platoon and a recon platoon back in 68 and 69 in Viet Nam.

I am dismayed that there seems to be so little respect here for the Infantry soldier. I thought such attitudes went away after the shameful treatment of veterans of that war led by Jane Fonda.

I will say this... I put way more regard for the opinion of someone who's doing it now over others. If Centermasdsays it's good and actual, current end-users say it's good.... my opinion ain't squat.
